vivo X Fold5 with 6,000mAh battery is here
Vivo has launched its latest foldable phone, the X Fold5, in China. It’s thinner, lighter, and more robust than its predecessor, and it also comes with some unique features.
Design and strength
It’s 9.2mm thick when folded and 4.3mm when unfolded, making it thinner than previous models. The titanium version weighs just 217 grams.
It is the first flip phone to achieve both IPX8 (submersible) and IPX9+ (high-pressure water resistance), the highest water resistance ratings among flip phones.
It also has an IP5X dust protection rating, allowing it to be used even in extremely cold environments, down to minus 20 degrees Celsius (-20°C).
Battery and charging system
It packs the world’s largest battery capacity in a flip phone at 6,000mAh. It supports both 80W wired fast charging and 40W wireless fast charging.
Display
The inner screen is 8.03 inches and the outer screen is 6.53 inches. The inner screen uses Zeiss Master Color Screen and the next generation Armor Glass, which makes the colors more accurate and more durable.
Camera
It is equipped with three 50MP Zeiss cameras (Main, Super Telephoto, Ultra-wide) with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) for clearer images.
Performance
It uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, but that chip will be updated by two generations in the next few months. There are 12GB/16GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB/1TB of storage options.
Price
That’s not bad for a flip phone. The 12GB/256GB version starts at 7,000 Chinese yuan (about $975), which is cheaper than the rival Oppo Find N5 (9,000 yuan).
The phone is a bit of a pain to use, but the battery size, top-notch water resistance, and slimmer design are some of the big advantages. It’s available for pre-order in China and will go on sale on July 2.
