Nvidia Gets Permission to Sell H20 AI Chips to China Again
One piece of good news for Nvidia is that it has regained access to the Chinese market.
The Chinese chip market is worth tens of billions of dollars to Nvidia. Due to the U.S. government’s licensing restrictions on exporting advanced chips, Nvidia has been unable to ship products to China since April, closing off some of its revenue streams.
Now, the U.S. government will soon lift this restriction. The H20 chips are AI chips specially designed to bypass export restrictions to Beijing. These are high-value chips, with an average price of about $12,000 each.
“The U.S. government has assured Nvidia that it will grant the license. Nvidia expects to be able to start shipping products soon,” the company stated.
It is also reported that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang met with President Donald Trump just last week to discuss America’s ambitions for AI dominance. During his meeting with policymakers, Huang also included the importance of supporting AI infrastructure in the discussion.
Currently, following the news that H20 chips will be re-entering China, Nvidia’s stock has surged by up to 5%. Nvidia recently became the world’s first company to be worth over $4 trillion, and its current market cap is stated as $4.162 trillion.
Nvidia is not ready to step down from its position as the unrivaled chipmaker.
