Xiaomi announces MIX Flip 2, a vertical flip phone

Xiaomi has officially launched its foldable phone, the MIX Flip 2. The phone has undergone minor design changes, but has seen significant upgrades in performance, battery life, and camera.

Design and interface

The MIX Flip 2 is similar in design to its predecessor, but uses an improved hinge system, which means the phone folds completely flat and minimizes creases when folded.

The outer screen (Cover Screen) is 0.1 inches larger than before, while the inner folding screen is 6.86 inches. Both screens support a 120Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 3,200 nits.

Performance and battery

It uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC for performance and features a dual vapor chamber cooling system for temperature control.

The battery is one of the biggest strengths of this phone, increasing to 5,165mAh from the previous model’s 4,780mAh. It also supports 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Camera

In terms of cameras, Xiaomi has made a big change. Instead of the 1x wide and 2x telephoto cameras of the previous model, this time it has a better 50MP main camera (OV50E sensor) and a 50MP ultrawide camera that can take macro photos from 5cm. On the front, there is a 32MP selfie camera that can record 4K video.

Color, price and memory types

The MIX Flip 2 will be available in four colors: Lattice Gold, Shell White, Nebula Purple, and Plum Green. The three memory variants and prices are as follows:

12/256GB: CNY 5,999 (5,999 yuan)

12/512GB: CNY 6,499 (6,499 yuan)

16GB/1TB: CNY 7,299 (7,299 yuan)

The phone box will include a 67W charger, phone case, and USB cable.
